Power BI Goals — Goal Tracking Made Easy
Cut-throat competition in today’s business environment means organizations need to stay on top of their performance, and performance tracking cannot be done without data management. However, even data management alone can not help businesses succeed. There is an additional component that is quite important to consider — organizational goals!
Several decades ago, Earl Nightingale said that if a ship leaves a harbor and has no destination planned and mapped in its route, it is most likely going to end up at a beach or the ocean floor! This is an apt analogy for organizational goals as well — one of the key issues today is that the goals haven’t been integrated into the ecosystem completely! When data processing and tracking systems are not synchronized and either require manual updating, it leads to inefficient goal-tracking.
Review Performance Real-Time
With the new update in Power BI, this would be a problem of the past. With this exciting feature, you can assimilate KPIs and metrics directly into the tool, where data points can be benchmarked in real-time. Multiple teams can easily collaborate on the data and review progress against goals without any complicated set-ups or lengthy protocols. Not only does this increase efficiency, but also creates stunning scorecards that are visually appealing and easy to understand.
Accessing The Function
On the dashboard home, the Goals button is readily accessible through the navigation pane. Clicking on this takes you to the following:
· My Goals and Activities — auto-populated goals and relevant data based on your past search and work history in the tool
· Recent, Favorites, Shared with Me & All Scorecards — The scorecards you have created and the ones you can access are listed here
· Sample Scorecards — As the name suggests, templates are available here
Snapshot View
The current performance of the organization, based on the data entered is presented through Scorecards. Each metric is compared against the current performance to give an overview through this integrated view called a scorecard. Linear graphs in the right corner give a visual representation of the progress while columns such as Status and Due Date give you a better grip on the data.
You can also assign owners to the goals to achieve a better sense of responsibility. Details can be accessed through the scorecard, allowing report creates to present the track record and notes associated with the required goal.
While report authors would find it visually appealing, managers can enjoy the seamless experience of creating scorecards and the added benefit of Power BI. Creating Scorecards is like a walk in the park — the sheer ease makes it an extremely effective tool for data management and goal tracking.
